ARCHITECTURE MODEL DEDICATED TO ALEXANDER L.
Documentation of the model.
Idea developed during art residency Culturia in Berlin. The studio was in one of the apartment of the skyscraper in Lichtenberg- a district of Berlin.
There is a room inside of the room, that allows to walk around and see interior through thin cut lines. It is an utopian model of an apartment that allows to experience life under control and gives a feeling of being watched and observed 24 hours a day. Distorted walls and structures of the interior interfere the consciousness and perception. It should become an experimental space in 3D, in real room size to register and analyze psychological process of interacting with strange, unknown architecture and lack of privacy.
In one police announcement I found information about Alexander L. He lived on Anton Saefkow Platz in the scycraper , the same building where we had our studio. He worked for TV and Newspapers as a free factfinder. One day he dissapeared. Police found his abbandoned car. There was a red sofa in his apartment that he had just bought a short time before. Sofa dissapeared. Police was searching for any informations about him or red sofa.
I dedicated him this project, that is an utopian architecture model of an appartment based on the panopticon idea. The walls have a thin line that allows to look inside and control and at the same time to protect the person inside. The distorted walls give sensation of pressure and fear of uncertainty and danger coming from outside.
